Stucco vs EIFS

Unlike traditional stucco that utilizes natural ingredients and mesh, External Insulation and Finishing Systems (EIFS) stucco uses layers that add in synthetic materials. The first layer is comprised of a polystyrene foam board. Then, that is followed by a fiberglass mesh and a finishing coat.

Generally, when someone is talking about regular stucco, they are referring to the traditional style that is a natural mix of Portland cement, limestone powder, sand, and water. Stucco is applied to a building using a 3-coat system that puts the stucco mix over a base mesh that looks similar to chicken wire but is entirely different

elastomeric paint

Elastomeric paint is a coating specifically made to protect masonry surfaces . Like other paints, it is applied in liquid form, which then hardens into a flexible, watertight covering. This paint can stretch and return to its original form without causing damage if applied correctly.

How to maintain stucco?

Keep it Clean. Just like any exterior, stucco can get dirty pretty easily.

Seal it Regularly. When stucco is first applied to your home, it should be sealed.

Consider Applying an Elastomeric Coating.
